Village Partnership Creates Social Safety Net in Rural Africa

Village Partnership Creates Social Safety Net in Rural Africa

Fengehun Village has reach the final phase of its local capacity-building partnership with UMC SLAC program allies.

With the final component of Installation and training of village on management of the palm oil manufacturing plant, the Village Partnership Committee in Bo has turned the project over to the village for supervision and management. A dedication ceremony is forthcoming in July of 2026, with dignitaries and stakeholders.

In Fengehun Village, traditional palm oil processing was a day-long, labor-intensive task. With new processing machinery, the community has boosted production from 3 bottles per day to 10 bottles per hour.
