CHAMPS
| Advancing Knowledge to Save Children’s Lives Child Health and Mortality Prevention Surveillance (CHAMPS) is a global surveillance network that generates and shares accurate information on causes of stillbirths and child deaths in high-mortality settings in Africa and South Asia. Working closely with communities and their leaders, CHAMPS teams work quickly to identify deaths and, with a family’s consent, use innovative diagnostic methods to investigate the causes. Findings help families improve the health of their children. CHAMPS provides data to local, national, and global health leaders to improve policies and programs and drive investments to save lives. CHAMPS is a TGH Member Organization, and has been featured on our podcast. Their work informs the global picture and they don’t stop with informing – they work with partners to begin to develop solutions based on the evidence of the data they collect. CHAMPS DASHBOARDS – IMPORTANT DATA | Child Health and Mortality Prevention Surveillance (CHAMPS) works in Mali, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Kenya, South Africa, Sierra Leone, and Mozambique to uncover the causes of stillbirth and death in children under five. CHAMPS works to close these gaps by gathering scientific evidence needed to save young lives. Envisioned as a long-term program supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, CHAMPS seeks to identify definitive causes of stillbirths and child deaths through community engagement, mortality surveillance, diagnostic and laboratory innovation, and rapid, open access to data. CHAMPS transforms data into action, working with partners to use our findings to inform evidence-based solutions to save lives. |
