Sowing influence, rather than throwing dollars at a problem means we saw an orphanage trafficking operation being uncovered and prosecuted after an episode of Optimistic Voices aired on that topic, and TGH members sharing resources and connections to get a seriously ill child lifesaving heart surgery not available in her country. Beyond the work we do in collaboration with local NGOs in Africa and North America, Helping Children Worldwide collaborates with allies on a global basis. We form trusted alliances to strengthen systems that prevent children from becoming orphaned.

Global alliances activities.

We hold an annual Rising Tides Conference to discuss complex topics, form lasting connections, and galvanize action.

We meet regularly with our colleagues in loose collaborations like the community of practice for care reform, movements like Strong Family For Every Child and member alliances like Together for Global Health.

We host a podcast – Optimistic Voices, and produce a magazine – Empower, and a post our ideas, observations, and experiences on social media, to highlight the critical issues and brilliant people who are working to solve them.

We see the impact of global work as a ripple effect of influence. It is not the input of funds; it is the engagement in deep conversations and relationships that brings about changes on a global stage.

We see these ripples in actions that follow engagement, such as significant after-action following Rising Tides conferences:

• orphanages transforming into family support centers,
• invitations to travel to Nigeria, Liberia, Kenya, and Mozambique to discuss orphanage transformation after RT Future of Global Mission in Virginia and RT International in Sierra Leone,
• a follow up RT style session initiated in East Africa after Rising Tides Catalyzing Change in DC in 2025;
• Rising Tides Global Health 2023 producing an annual training seminar to increase lifesaving skills of midwives in Sierra Leone.

As part of our Orphan Prevention Strategy, we convene and manage the Together for Global Health Network. TGH is a collaboration of global health allies who work toward strengthening one another through education, resource sharing, collaborative efforts and mission partnerships.

Membership in the network is open to any ally, partner, or colleague who values the idea that people are entitled to quality health services regardless of their place of birth or financial circumstances, and wish to see local health systems in poorly resourced regions of the world function as well as local health systems in well-resources regions of the world.
