Why We Exist

Globally, 900 million children experience multidimensional poverty, meaning they lack basic necessities like food, shelter, or healthcare.

50% of children in Sub-saharan Africa live in households surviving on less than $3 a day. 412 million of the world's children (20%) exist in this extreme poverty.

Why Worldwide? Child poverty is not limited to developing economies. In 37 high-income countries, 50 million children (23% of the child population in those nations) live in poverty. In the United States, more than 20% of children experience poverty.

Poverty during childhood leads to lifelong consequences, including poor health, shorter lifespans, and reduced opportunities that transmit poverty to the next generation.

Progress in ending poverty has stalled due to rising conflict, climate change, and global funding cuts.
